Here you’ll find commonly used terms in Southeast Asia about the options of having your tea and coffee beverages brewed in the way as you like it … So go on, and let us know your preference when you order your next cup of Old Tea Hut.


"Siew-Dai" / Less Sweet:  A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Cantonese. Regular tea or coffee with less sweetness in proportion. For drinks that use sweetened milk for sweetness, the less-sweet option will refer to less-milk too.
"Siew-Siew-Dai" / Much Less Sweet: For those who like their regular drink to just have a hint of sweetness.

"Ka-Dai” / More Sweet: For those with a sweet tooth and like their drink to be much sweeter.

"Gao" / More Concentrate: A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Hokkien. The tea or coffee is brewed in double strength, meaning to have your drink beverage with more full-bodied taste and stronger in flavour.

"Po" / More Dilute: A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Hokkien. Regular tea or coffee with an extra long pull that allows more water as normal to pass through the tea leaves or coffee grounds, thus making for a much less intense taste."

"Tit-Lo" / Pure Concentrate: A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Hokkien. A real caffeine fix. The drink is made up of water going through the tea leaves or coffee grounds once only without any further proportion of water, creating an extremely thick and intense taste.

"Peng"  / Iced: A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Hokkien. Simply means having ice over your regular beverage.

"Ka-C"  /  More Dehydrated Milk ( or commonly known as Evaporated Milk): A pronunciation of the Chinese dialect language Cantonese with "Ka" meaning to add, and "C" simply referring to evaporated milk. Only applicable for drinks that consist of evaporated milk in the brewing such as Tea-C in our menu.

"Siew-C" / Less Dehydrated Milk ( or commonly known as Evaporated Milk): To have your drink with less evaporated milk. Only applicable for drinks that consist of evaporated milk in the brewing such as Tea-C in our menu.

"Ko-Song" / Non-Sweet: A pronunciation of the ethnic Malay language used in general when you wish to opt out of certain ingredients. This is usually associated with sweetness meaning to have a non-sweet drink. For example, if you prefer a non-sweet Tea-C, it will be brewed without sugar. For drinks that use sweetened milk for sweetness, this non-sweet option will refer to no milk too.
